1st Annual "GET SKILLZ CAMP"
On Sunday, April 14, 2013, I put on my first annual "GET SKILLZ" camp, with the help of my Edison Charger CIF Championship football teammates, family and friends. The camp was set up to teach Pop Warner age boys/girls grade K-8th, football speed, agility and proper technique to get a jump start on their upcoming football season. All the proceeds from the camp benefited the, "DAVID BOLDA SCHOLARSHIP," fund in honor of my late grandfather, Police Chief, David Bolda to keep his memory and giving spirit alive.
*This event was put on for my final senior project for CIBACS (The Center for International Business and Communication Studies) class.
The support was incredible. I received medal donations from Barb at B & B Trophy & Awards, to
hand out to all the winners of the punt/pass/kick competition at each
grade level. I also received donated & discounted T-shirts for all
the camp leaders from Hector Martinez at 1-Step Ahead...a HUGE Thank You!!
Elijah Herrera~"GET SKILLZ CAMP"
The camp had 55+ kids in attendance. There were several drills and
rotations going on to keep the campers (ages 4-13 years old) engaged and active. The success
of this camp was due to the great community, volunteers and giving
spirit of all involved. The donations received from this event will pay Pop Warner fees for 2 full scholarships and 1 partial scholarship.
I had a great time teaching the kids and enjoyed the opportunity to give back to my community.
